24 things I learned in my 24th year

It’s my birthday, to which I really am not shy about.  I love the turning of a new leaf and growing up. That said here are 24 things I learned in 24.  To preface this, 24 was in a lot of ways, trying & uncomfortable but in the midst of it I became more relaxed, leaned into who I am and enjoyed it.  I now have 24 years of old insecurities I’ve decided to let go, 24 years of finding myself and loving her. For better or worse, here are my 24 things.

//24//

  1. Quit on things that don’t bring you life.  You won’t always have the luxury of time

  2. Spend more time in the sun- your freckles will come out to play

  3. Relax, it’s never that big of a deal.  You have less control and more freedom then you think

  4. If the world falls apart, take a nap, eat a hot meal & shower.  The world within your own mind will be different

  5. Keep dancing, your rhythm might not improve but your mood will

  6. Best friends matter.  Name me a best memory of 24 and their names will be scattered though out, you know who you are.  Deep friendships take time but they are always worth it.

  7. Being vegan is overrated.  Other things matter too.  (more importantly, learn your body type)

  8. Dreams in the night and during the day will ebb and flow but there will always be consistency to what is closest to your heart.

  9. Keep running Russian hill, it burns.  But fast burn is important.

  10. Cooking for fun is good for the soul.  Stay creative outside of your day job and the creativity inside your day job will improve.

  11. Just because you are called to something doesn’t mean you have to be there all the time.

  12. Being brave often starts with standing up to the insults within your own mind.  Find the courage to encourage yourself.

  13. Boys who are bad for you will always stay bad for you.

  14. Prayer works, be consistent.

  15. Zoom dance parties to not cut it, find yourself a rug & a roommate and cut it yourself.

  16. Pivot.  When life throws you a fast one and you’re a small business owner, don’t salvage, just pivot.  Better things will come.

  17. Sisterhood never needed a room, connection can prevail through so many trials.  Find good sisters, keep them close.

  18. My roommates now share all of their things, it took some time to get to this level but it has saved me a lot of money.

  19. Cherish the season of sisterhood before you move into misterhood.

  20. Just because you can’t see the success in your dreams today doesn’t mean you won’t see success.

  21. Be kind to yourself, you are always, always worth it.

  22. Care for your body and it will care for you.

  23. Life goes on when the world shuts down.  Keep your mental health close and be patient.

  24. Take everything in stride.  Then lengthen your stride.

50% of 24 was spent in a global pandemic, but the best is always yet to come.  Things in my life suddenly stopped, some of those things were insanely time and energy-consuming, and I just decided I’ll never pick them back up and just keep living my best life.  Word to the wise, do what you love.

Cheers & hello 25.
